“Samantha Jane’s Missing Smile” is a good book for children to learn about how to deal with death. It talks about how Samantha Jane lost her father and is now trying to deal with it. It goes through all of the emotions a person goes through when they lose someone and it describes ways to remember and honor the person.

This is a good website for the adults in a child’s life to learn about how to help a child through loss and death. It begins by listing various tips on how to help and support a child through the hard times. It also has links to children’s understanding of death, signs and symptoms of grief, and the stages of grief. Under the children’s understanding tab it divides the levels of understanding into four different age groups from birth all the way to 18 years. It also briefly talks about the different physical and emotional symptoms of grief. Lastly, under the stages of grief section it talks about the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression or sadness, and acceptance.
